If outdoor furniture sits out through the cold and wet months it can become ruined no matter what type of material it is made from. Today Rejuvenate® would like to share with you some general tips on how to clean and store your patio furniture to help you winterize the outside of your home.

Wash Away Dirt

Spraying down your outdoor furniture with a garden hose is a great way to get rid of any loose debris that may be hard to reach. You want to be 100 percent sure that your patio furniture is completely dry before storing it away for the season so plan this fall cleaning chore on a nice sunny day. Use a microfiber cloth to throughly dry all furniture, seat cushions and lawn equipment before storing away for the winter.

Wipe Down Surfaces

Wicker furniture and other types of woven furniture has a tendency to collect little chunks of dirt and grass. If the dirt and debris are trapped and moisture builds up, then the furniture can began to mildew. Depending on the type of material your outdoor furniture is made of, it’s helpful to brush off or wipe off any loose dirt or debris with a Rejuvenate microfiber towel

Winterize Seat Cushions

If your patio furniture has vinyl cushions, simply wash them down with your garden hose and a bit of soapy water. Storing Outdoor Furniture

All seat and bench cushions should be bagged up after you’ve washed and dried them - this will help them stay clean until next season. Some people just toss furniture covers over their outdoor furniture but it’s best to keep them indoors; in your garage, attic or basement, especially if you live in a cold and wet climate.

Now that your outdoor furniture is cleaned, dried, and stored away for the winter months you can relax. It helps knowing that when the warmer weather comes back around all you have to do is bring your patio furniture back outside, uncover it and enjoy.
