table filled with football watch party food

OK, so your NFL football watch party is over. Your favorite team won the game (congratulations!) and your last guest has walked out the door. You look around the house and realize you’re in for some major clean up time. It may look like a lot of work but, just breathe deep and get ready to tackle the mess.

Just a heads up, as you walk through the house you might look a little like one of the football players you just watched make a touchdown. This is because you’ll be dodging the spilled soda, stepping over the pile of chips on the floor, and into the end zone like a champ with your clean up skills.

Here are a few pre-party tips to help you with the after-party:

  • If it’s valuable put it away before guests arrive
  • If kids are present make them a kiddie corner
  • Make sure you have plenty of cleaning supplies on hand
  • Have your trash and recycling bins ready
  • Invest in some microfiber towels to clean up any spills

Let’s Get Down & Dirty

Trash and Food Roundup: First things first, it’s time to go around picking up any trash or abandoned food off of counters and sometimes - off of the floor. If there were kids at the party you might find some food in strange places. Once you’ve got everything up and out-of-the-way it’s time to look for any spill spots.

Stain Removing Time: Grab your carpet and upholstery cleaner and get to work. Concentrate on any stained areas and give them a quick spray of Rejuvenate’s® Carpet Spot & Stain Remover so you can move on to the next cleaning task at hand. Let the Best in Class stain remover do its work, then once the carpet is dry, vacuum well to fluff up and restore the carpet fibers good as new!

Wipe Off Counters and Tables: While your carpet stain remover is working its magic it’s a good time to start wiping off any tables and countertops that need cleaning. You can use a gentle soap and water solution or a product made specifically for the job like our Kitchen & Bathroom Countertop Polish.

Sweep The Floors: Go ahead and sweep and damp mop the floors in your home. For a quick and easy floor cleaning method use our No-Bucket Floor Cleaner and simply spray on and wipe clean with a microfiber mop bonnet applicator. If you’ve recently installed vinyl tiles or plank flooring in your home, try our Luxury Vinyl Floor Cleaner, available in a convenient spray-and-mop formula.

Major Stains on Fabric: If you dropped a mustard laden hotdog down the front of your Dolphin’s football jersey, it’s time to bring out your bottle of OUTrageous. The heavy-duty stain remover can be used to pre-treat any clothing or fabric items before throwing them in the washer. Just follow the directions on the back of the bottle and let the stain remover do the hard work for you.

Cleaning up after a party doesn’t have to be a downer. All you have to do is make sure you have the right cleaning supplies and jump in. Sometimes it’s wise to have a few friends that will stay after the football game for an exclusive after party. Turn on some tunes and start cleaning!

We already mentioned using microfiber towels – they are washable and reusable and are great tool for wiping up spills of any kind. Plan your next football viewing party early and get a head start on those cleaning supplies. The more prepared you are the smoother the cleanup will go. Of course, you can’t plan for everything but you can prepare for most things. Spills happen! Happy Football Viewing!
